Replace the distribitor

Have a 71 J 10,or J2000 cant tell the dif?. Anyhow wanting to replace the stock points distribitor for a updated unit.Do i replace it with a new ford dist, or mopar?, or are there any suggestions for me and if I replace it what would be the wiring be? thanks for all your help

you have 2 major choices. HEI or pertronix!

Pertronix uses stock everything just replaces your points with a magnetic pick-up. Hei is a lot better but a little more than double the price and will need plugs and new wires.

I agree with supercopjason- go with a Pertronix unit. Simple replacement of the points and not too much $$$. I did the distributor in my J4000 5 years ago and haven't touched it since.
