maybe sacrilege question, but I've done that before

Ok, Im ready to get flamed.

How hard would it be to put a M-715 body on a 78 Cherokee Chief frame. I am already thinking of cutting sections out of the bed to shorten it, and the rear of the cab / front of the bed to have a kinda "walk through" for a rear seat.

thoughts? even pics would be cool with any modified M-715 in em.

I am doing something similar but I am using a J truck cab. My cab is a direct bolt on to the frame. If your frame is from a Chief it is probably made after 1975 and probably won't bolt direct to the M715 cab.
You can look at my build thread in my signature below for a look at what I have done so far.

the Cherokee body may go on a different frame still a convertible. Still looking at either a Modified Sout II soft top or modified Wrangler Unlimited soft top.

I have always like the M-715 and found one for a reasonable price.

There are pictures of a J10 cab with short bed on Wagoneer frame on IFSJA. This is what my next Trail Jeep is going to built on. I also like the idea of M715 but with J10 cab to eliminate the front windsheild/rag top of the M715. How about this--In Mississippi I saw two short Cherokees that had the 24" behind the doors cut out making it a short wheel base Cherokee back in 1983. I havent seen one since.
