Intermittent wipers on an older FSJ?

My '77 Chief doesn't have intermittent wipers and I'm pretty sure it wasn't an option in '77. Can you pull the switch and module out of a later FSJ and swap it in?

I've done that on one of my '79s and it works great...just not sure if there is anything different about the wiring on the earlier ones?

Thanks,
Dean

Yes you can, but I've never done it.

Years ago, I installed one of those JC Whitney intermittent setups in my '75. It worked great and it was not a hassle to install. The instructions tell you to cut into your harness, but I made an adapter to the existing switch, so I didn't have to butcher the harness.

I'm sure you will still have to tap into the wiring. It won't be a unplug-plug in.
I built a control box (similar to the JC Whimpy)and tapped into a 70's wag once. Also worked great.

I'm familiar with that option also....seems to be a common FSJ problem.

My '77 works fine though...

Well I guess that is what I'm asking. For my '79 it was just swap the switch and plug the new harness in line and whala...intermittent wipers.

Didn't have to cut into anthing. The intermitent harness has the delay module on it and you just plug that into the plug that used to go into the old wiper switch and plug the other end into the new switch.

I pulled that stuff out of an '84 wag.

But...intermittent wipers were an option in '79 and they weren't in '77.

I guess I could just try it...you know pull the switch and harness off of my '79 and see if will work on the '77. I guess I'll look up in there and see if the wiper switch plug looks the same.
