'89 GW oil pump repair

So, I ordered an oil pump repair kit and new housing from Team Grand Wagoneer. The new plungers that came with the repair kit get stuck right away putting them in the housing. The one from the old housing will slide right in. Should I just use the old one, or tap a new one into the hole? I don't want to get it stuck in there... Thanks

big red flag on quality there imho...
the plunger needs to slide freely in the bore.

I have always just refurbished oem covers.
Many not cool stories about aftermarket covers.

Tbh as long as the original cover is useable (you would be surprised how badly the oil pump bore can look and still make good oil pressure) I would use it over a new one any day.
