'87 Has clips on the windshield molding? When did that start? '84 Doesn't have them.

Mine had them to hold the stainless steel trim on. Curious how it was held on in 1984.

I have never seen "clips" holding on the windshield trim on any FSJ.
The gasket has a lip that the trim grabs + a few screws.

Post a pic? Sounds like it was added by someone that had trouble reinstalling the trim properly?

I think he's talking about the corner trim pieces.

Maybe, but I wouldn't call the corner pieces "clips" as they are part of the trim. As much as the other pieces.

since this is being discussed.

I recently had a windshield installed on a 76 j10

they could not install trim

body shop got bottom piece on,....
now I am left to try and install the rest of the w shield trim

I think I saved a post from this site
telling steps to install trim,

didn't one step,...
especially for top piece

involve using string or rope
that when removed pulled the rubber lip of seal around edge of trim so it would set in groove ?

any advice on this will be a help to me too, as well as others.

thanx

I know the old fashioned way of doing it was to was to install the trim into the rubber before installing the windshield into the truck. Then the string trick is done to install it all into the truck. I assume it could work for getting the trim into the rubber after it's been installed.
