Question

It doesn't say in the instructions but they are different. You didn't tell me that they came with bushings either? I posted a question on where to get new ones and nobody told me that I didn't need them. Hmmm life is good.

Mine had "front" painted on the side that was supposed to go forward. They only fit one way anyways. They would not fit the other direction. In my excitement to get the lift on, I did not see the blazing white "front" painted on the spring and put it on backwards the first time. It did not match up right so me and my buddy scratched our collective heads and with our combined IQ rising to that of a dead seagull we were able to read the "front" painted on the spring that was in the wrong place. I guess if it not painted on the springs, just give them a call in the morning. Maybe the 6 is different from the 4.

Cool

Thanks but no painted clues on them. They do say "rear" though. Wonder if it means rear rear. Just what is the IQ of a segal anyway. ROFLOL

Needless to say we felt pretty darn stupid after that one. It was one of those days were you get outsmarted by drool... The springs will only fit up there one way and match up with everything. At least that is the way it seemed to me when we put it in.

I think that the big eye always goes in the fixed mount and the small eye goes on the shackle side. At least that is how they are on my 81 J-10.

Fronts on the '70 were the same all around, had to measure to get axle placement right, rears only went on one way. But then you read my saga.

You shouldn't be allowed to do that to members on their first cup of coffee at 5am.

are you talking about the front lift springs or the rear. the rear springs have a large and a small end. the large end goes in the front boxed in mount and the small end goes in the shackle. I your talking about the front , mine were marked with a rear marking. the rear springs were a real snug fit going into the boxed mount. I used alot of lithum grease to help lub. Still took some muscle to get it in though.

Cool

Your toooooooo funny "64". Nothing can explain that since I'm exempt being from Michigan.

Thanks for the help everyone else.

Guess I'm going to be starting the installation on Monday. Leaving to pick up my Wagoneer from CO on Friday if all goes well.

He's been working swings for several months. And I think he's in VA for 10 days or so TDY. Did you get the batteries in yet?

Cool

If you hear from him tell'm to drop me a line. Havn't gotten the batteries in yet. I'm trying to find a way to lift my old battery out. Think I'll need an engine hoist to do this. I really am just waiting until my lift and locker are installed cuz I have quite a job to do in fabricating the new batt. box. I think it will be in b4 Ouray. Hahahahahehehaha
