it's in,running good, couple hundred miles on it. 19" vacuum at idle with the 8601/Rhoads lifters, and i've yet to do a comprehensive tuning.

it showed immediate +11mpg mileages. all my engines will get rhoads from now on.they are a bit noisy but i have mine at .025 lash which is wide,to tame the cam. that big old 3310 feels like fuel injection. i ran the tank of 87 octane through it,no pings.

i was nervous of the oil pressure,it was showing low on the guage, but i checked it with a mechanical guage,25 at idle, and sweeps nicely to 55 when the gas is stepped on. i think my old 401 was a bit higher at idle, but i also think the journals were a tad tighter on that one.this motor is .002 on all. i think i'll put an .007 gasket in the pump from bulltear though.

it has punch, but with the stock exhaust still on i can't give a real report.

i slammed the hood on it,walked in and told ang it was the last one, going for a new car after this one, done messin' with this crap...blah blah blah......

....and then started eyeballin' some '61-62 Lincoln Continental hard tops...

115.00 for the standard ones, which work with pedestal rockers. i have the v-max lifters-165.00,which require adjustable rockers, and i can dial in the range of lift and duration i want decreased under about 3500rpm.

Buddy of mine who turns wrenches for a caddy dealship, swears by rhoads lifters. He said any engine I build outside of work has to have them.

Isn't that what led to *edit Pete's Cad 500 crashing the cam, mixing lifters with off make cam... or was that maybe a spring issue? Don't recall precisely but it left me feeling leary... since I think he had Roades lifters. Maybe I'm completley mistaken, this was awhile ago now...

I though it was his son starting the engine up for some friends..sans coolant.

Oooh, that's worse. Do those Rhodes lifters work the same with lots of miles on them? I've got ~stage 1 or a lil higher springs on my 455 and don't know if they'd work as well in that application, are they just for stock springs?

they're a high performance lifter that knocks lift and duration off at lower rpm to mild the cam.
