Hippie, you are running a near identical trans/t-case combo as me. I'd buy some bigger axles with something between 3.73's or 4.10's in them already if I were you. 4.10 with 36's is more than enough gear for me with the deep Ford trans gears. You are already geared lower than a stock waggy as it is. If you are like me, I only street drive 2nd-4th and If I recall correctly, 2nd in the Ford T-18 is deeper than the stock 727's 1st gear.

yeah im about to do the same thing and im gonna run 4.10's just for highway sanity. if you want lower gearing have someone go through your transfer case and build that up this way you have when you need it on the trail.

My Cherokee project is running 33x10s with 3.31 gears and AX15 five speed. It should be at approx 2K rpm in OD at 65 mph

I put 4.56 in mine. We go to Moab every year. Wheeled like a monster on all the hardest trails Moab has to offer, and drives around town getting groceries like a champ. Been very happy with 4.56 for gearing selection with my 35".
Best of luck

For 35's, 4.56 gears will make a huge difference.

It has a lot to do with your motor/trans combination and what you want to do with the truck. I went with 4:88 with 35's but I have a 4spd auto and quite a bit of LS power. The 4spd with lockup allows it to go faster than I ever want to on the highway and the 88's pin you back in the seat through the gears real good in the dirt. With all stock motor and 3spd auto, you should decide if you want acceleration or mileage since there's essentially no power to work with anyway. Going to 35's all stock I think at least 4:10's would keep you from accelerating like a snail.
