rear shackle flip question on 75 cherokee

i have a 75 cherokee with the "odd" 1" post mounted springs. i removed the rear springs and rotated the shackle down. i moved the stock springs in position and noticed they are about two inches too short. it looks like during drop out the shackle will move too far forward and become stuck. it looks like i need a spring another couple of inches in length to make this work.
has anyone put 1/2 ton chevy springs on one of these?
anyone know of someone who sells spring hangers for the 1/2 ton chevy springs. thanks rob

I (and many others) have run this setup. I ran mine that way for 5 years and LOTS of offroading trips, never had an issue. To correct it you have to move that rear mount forward about 1". Which is no easy to task. The other way is to use JUST the main spring from a 76+ fsj, and a longer shackle (about 2" longer) and leave the rear mount in its normal location.

1/2 ton rear chevy springs bolt right up for the most part. You just have to change out the bushings. BJ's offroads rear 73 and older wagoneer springs also work, and you may or may not have to change the bushings on these.

thanks for your help. i was hoping to just bolt on the springs and run it. i will look into moving the rear post mount forward although it does look like alot of griding and pounding. the post mount seems pretty stout and difficult to remove. this jeep might not be moving for a while
thanks again, rob

I should have noted that I (and others) did not move that rear post. I just flipped it and ran it.

I was going to say, I am running mine that way, just flipped it down and bolted the springs back up.
Wheeled it hard in the con and similar, no problems yet, also ran it in Pismo jumping it on dunes, still good except I broke my transmission.

thanks again for the help. today after work i went ahead and mounted the one spring back in with the shackle flipped and with a little pulling bolted her in. the shackle looks to be at a weird angle but my jeep buddy swears he ran his j truck like this. i have dana 60s front and rear from another rig along with a 383 stroker, and a t400 atlas 3.8 combo to throw in this cherokee. i want to keep this truck street legal.
