I guess I am a little confused.
What are you trying to accomplish?
Stronger axles?
Spring over?
Tow rig?

80's J20 axles will keep you SUA, front is not really any stronger, rear is a full floater, you will be 8-lug then and looking for new rims/tires. Rear will need the perches repositioned for the wag/chero width.

I think if it were me , I would stay with the 44, They will keep up with anything the jeep can handle , and the 33's. I would change the gears to 3:73 for the 33's or 4:11 if it is a big camper/boat. With the 4:11 your hwy speed will be less.

Will J10/J20 rear axles clear the Chero/Wag coffin gas tank?

I'd be more concerned with how much the tires are going to stick out they are significantly wider.
IIRC stock NT is ~58" and J-truck is like ~67"

It appears that he has a W/T and "The Bargin Beater" ran J Truck axles. The rear on a W/T has the axles tucked in and I have thought about putting a J-10 axle , but it doesn't bother me enough for the trouble to do it.
