Question Fuel tank vent valves

Has anyone out there ever successfully replaced either or both of the Fuel tank vent check valves with the tank still installed?

Was just thinking. If I don’t have any of the factory emissions on the vehicle do I actually need those 2 vent valves? Other than for rollover’s..

Yes I snapped off the hose nipple on both Valves installing the tank.. ugh

Assuming your 82 fuel tank is the same as an 88, I don't think you can access them without either dropping the tank or cutting new/enlarging the existing access port. There is just no room to get a hand on them from below.

If you drop tank from front with rear hoses attached you can tilt enough to replace them without fully dropping tank. Loosen straps and skid plate next to drive shaft as well.
