Everyone meet my '72 Wagoneer!
Starting with the backstory. Found out my buddy had this truck sitting behind his brothers car dealer in CO for "awhile". Went to go look at it during a ski trip and decided it would be a great truck. Bought the truck and had it shipped to MI.
Where it sat in CO, turns out it was back there for 12 years.
Getting off the truck in MI:
I had asked what the story was with the paint, and my buddy said it was some good 'ole Colorado dust. I assumed it was originally light blue, then poorly painted blue and green or something... Turns out it was only painted dark blue and the green was just the dust!
Washing the dust off:
The truck was driven regularly before it was parked, and got fired up a couple times a year when my buddy would go skiing or hunting in Colorado. That meant a new plastic fuel tank, and rebuilt carb. I threw in a new fuel filter, fixed a leaking gasket on the tank, and it seemed to drive pretty good. New tires were the only other thing so far.
The plan is to use it for towing toys, beach/dune cruising (we are very close to Silver Lake and Lake Michigan) and camping trips. It came with a pretty robust hitch installed so I believe it has towed before.
Did some trial runs towing and cant say I would want to go very far or fast. It stops and goes, but neither very fast. It looks good though.
Little more saggy waggy when pulling a race car.
I have a set of overload springs, and want to add hydro-boost (and potentially front disks) before I do any serious towing.
