401 on dyno

AMC 401
511 HP / 500 TQ
Heads
• “Street Ported” factory iron with competition valve job
• 270 CFM @ .550 intake, 190 CFM exhaust @ .550
• Stainless steel 2.055/1.625 11/32 stem valves
• 7/16 screw in chrome molly studs and guide plates
• Bronze guides with positive viton metal clad seals
• Dual valve springs with machined 10* machined locks and retainers, spring seat locators
• Resurfaced plus intake and exhaust mounting surfaces milled
• Cometic head gaskets
Block
• Painted base coat clear coat AMC P44A Caravelle Blue
• Bored and torque plate honed .030 to 4.195 final bore, 9.5:1 compression
• Line Honed with ARP main studs
• Decked
• Oil drain backs modified for better flow
• Main oil feed enlarged for more volume
Crank
• Factory AMC 401 turned .010/.010
• External Balanced
Rods
• Full floating Molnar with ARP 2000 bolts
Pistons
• Wiseco ProTru pistons with Hasting moly rings, spiral locks
Oiling System
• Ported and enlarged Factory AMC passages in timing cover / filter adapter
• Drilled and taped pressure bypass valve spring retainer cap screw with bolt installed for adjustable oil pressure
• New pump gears and spring
• New stock replacement oil pan

Dampener
• New professional products
Flex Plate
• New SFI approved
Ignition System
• Pertronix III conversion installed in factory point style
• Fully reconditioned with locked timing set at 34* BTDC
• New brass contact cap, rotor
• New 7mm wires
• New NGK spark plugs
Carburetor
• Holley HP annular discharge mechanical secondary
Intake
• Ported Edelbrock Torker
Cam, Lifters, Timing Chain. Rocker Arms, Pushrods
• Custom ground Bullet Cams solid flat tappet with Johnson Hylift EDM lifters
• 260/274 advertised, 234/244 @ .050 duration, hot lash .016
• .3600/.3380 lobe lift, .576/.541 gross valve lift
• 110 LSA, intake lobe degreed to 106
• 1.6 stainless steel roller rockers
• Double roller
• New cam gear
• Pushrods, 5/16 chrome moly .080 wall thickness

Thank you. The torker has always worked well for me.

An air gap would probalby work for this application also but I had two torkers so I used one.

The engine went a best of 10.60 in an AMX that weighs 3000 lbs, I believe, with driver in it

It was killer air and a tail wind also. Runs 10.8-10.9 typically

AMX is a drag car only
