If I would have talked to my Mom like that, when I woke up, Dad would have already sold it!

I hope you apologized to your Mom...and meant it.

x4 Of course my mom would have never even joked about it. I do sometimes get remarks about the number of them that don't run!

I don't know you or your family, so I'm not going to try to give you advice, other than suggesting that perhaps you should get a truck in your own name and transfer over all your stuff (your profile says you're 18).

LOL! Some (mostly old Italian women) in my family call my Jeep a pile of junk, etc., all while they're having Cadillac engine work done on literally a monthly basis. When I mention that I've had zero issues since 2001, that shuts them up.

Duke,
What motivated your mother to want to sell the Jeep?

Good times, good times. I believe one of the 10 commandments says to "honor thy father and mother that thy days with thine Jeep may be longer" or something like that.

AHHH, that sucks! I threatened my dad before I went to college- that I was going to sell my heep to go school. Then all of a sudden he realized that I was serious, OH and I still have the heep! So things have a way of working out, maybe it was just a scare tactic. Besides parts are cheap, its paid off, can't find anything else for that price range that is reliable is some key points you can argue.. and if nothing else get the title in your name. I think liablity insurance is too expensive for these rigs . and tags that depends on your state. just wish it was easy on fuel!

If it's in her name perhaps the solution is for you to buy it from her.

I pay $30 a month for liability and high medical and 50,000 prop damage, and $25 a year for tags (and I'm early 30s)

simple fix here...

If your Mother is dead set on selling your rig, and wont sell to you after you "uncorked" on her, heres what you do.

Get one of your pals to make a call to their cousins, or someone who your Mother doesnt know. You set up the deal where you hand them (Cousin-X) the cash and they make the deal and buy the car on your behalf. Make sure they chisel Ma down on the price, so you dont end up overpaying on the price of freedom. You and Cousin do the exchange of paperwork on the sly, and you walk away with the title-reggie.

The reason that Im suggesting a "pal's cousin" is that its A.) Somebody your Mother wont know and B.) Somebody that has a tangible association with you through your pal and is less likely to screw you over while the paperwork is being transferred.

Just my 2 cents.

BTW, dont blow your top with your Mother, shes the only one you'll ever have, even if she drives you bananas. Trust me on this one.

Your lucky. My dad did sell mine. It was Grandpas '64 Wagoneer. Long story, Family fued, bla-bla-bla. I didnt' cuss anyone out. Turned my back and walked away. 28 years later, Mom knows the story, Grandma and Dad are gone. For dealing with it the way I did, Mom has seen to it that I have recieved a little more than other sibs and cousins from their estates. Well worth the value of what I lost. Be kind to your Mom, she might be the only one to back you up someday as far as family matters are concerned.
