Np208D?

Did some searches. How do I identify a NP208D? Thinking of a 700r4 swap with the Dodge np208 case. .....Tad....

Why do you want a Dodge T-Case if you plan on running a 700R4? Just get a 700R4 mated to a NP208 out of a Chevy and you are done. Tad did his setup, but it was a major pain in the butt due to clocking issues between GM and Dodge

To answer your question though, Round Tag will say NP208D

Look at the tag ?
Not sure what you are doing but you can go with a 208C or 241C with stock GM parts , you will need a 208C (from a Th350, 700R4, 4L60e .. truck) anyway for the input gear (27 spline) to swap into the Dodge case, then the you have adapter clocking issues to worry about.
The Dodge case (I assume the 208D like the 241D had a yoke rear output)

I'm learning as I go fella's. thank you for the input. I'll have to dig a little deeper.

I was assuming that the NP208D "Dodge Case" had the coeerrect spine 's and were able to clock correctly on the 700R4 in a Driver side drop set-up.

similar question: does the np208 in my wagoneer have a 'J'? Like the NP231J that was put in the XJ's, TJ's, etc.

Yes it was and I don't really recommend it unless you have a lot of parts laying around, have some good friends that send you parts and feel like cutting into a very pricey adapter.

That's my understanding. Dodge and Jeep have fixed yokes, Chevy and Ford were slip yokes. No SYE kits were available for 208's when I did mine.

Last 208 swap I did with FSJ parts the 208 was tagged as "208AM".
That might change in the later part of the '80's to a "J", not sure.
