no,i'm saying there's almost surely a ZERO gain on the money invested. spend a grand to gain a mpg or so. you'll need to drive a lot to offset that.

can it be done? sure. it's been done many times, but more of a labor of love than from an economics standpoint.

for the most part, you either accept what these cars are,and enjoy it,or move on. very few have succesfully transformed one to a modern level of performance and economy. and the ones that have did it out of love for the car,not because they needed a fuel efficient one.

Yep the FSJ hit production in 1963 so your talking a late 50s design say 57'-59' possibly 59'-61' maybe . . . Back when trucks got used 25ish years and longevity n endurance was the goal not MPGs . . .

MSJs hit production in 84' when drivability and MPGs were the goal ;-) tho they still lived 20years n 250k miles . . . Remember AMC's slogan was "Quality built in not added on" ! ! !

Well my vote is XJ/MJ $300-$500 gets ya runners n $1,500-$2,500 gets ya good lookers . . .
