What would you pay - 83 wagoneer

https://photos.app.goo.gl/GciCF7cB68uBQfsJA
Known: 2 owner, guy got it from his dad who allegedly garage kept and loved it. Miles read 156k, BUT motor was replaced at 145k with a 55k motor
Has sat for 5 years and the windshield gasket is bad and moisture is inside. There's a quick video after we threw some gas down the carb. Tank is empty or maybe fuel pump. Power windows, seats and tail all work, need major lubrication. No gauges. Surface rust when I looked underneath and pans appear surface too. Should have taken more pics. Noted rust on fender. Carpet is wet and beaded moisture visible above the pedals.
The whole thing appears to have sat with foliage on it or something. I'd love to see it after a good bath.
He's asking $2500. Getting a better look at mechanics tomorrow. Would appreciate your thoughts. What would you being asking or looking at?

Other stuff: My current 85 needs all new interior, and has a bad maaco level paint job, but runs strong on original (rebuilt) motor and tranny. No rust but an after market sunroof that sunroof shops decline to work on. True story. We would only keep one. We would like to have more stock but does a non matching motor blow that up? As always, appreciate you guys!

There's a link at top of post. I don't think I'm gonna move on it. Unless the price drops way down, the motor is good but all that rust along the dash and the green carpet give me pause. There's cancer on bottom of passenger door.

In New York that would be a steal for 2500.

80s wags were indeed rot-buckets once the cancer got started. I think you're right to wait to see it come down considerably. Or make a low offer you're comfortable with and let them sit on it....tell them to call you when they'd sell for that price. You can still walk away for now, but if they can't sell for their asking price, you are still in the wings. If you're only keeping one, keep the one most solid! You can replace parts, but rot is harder to overcome.

I agree with this. Do you have space for 2 rigs and parts? When you start tearing one apart, they take up a ton of room.

I would love to buy another rig and swap good parts to the better, part out the other, and dispose but I don't have any room for another rig.

I just checked fb and it was sold. The guy told me it went for $2100. He sent pics after pressure washing it and it did actually have shine to it. Some dude is taking it up to Alaska. I guess the like banana boat looking cars there.
