Question: how to wire Yellow & Green wires to new Coil (for HEI distributor upgrade)

I am in the midst of installing a CRT Performance HEI distributor and coil to replace my stock AMC ignition and distributor in my ‘88 Wagoneer.

My question to the group is how to best wire the original (2-prong) yellow/green hot starter ignition wires to the new coil?

I am learning and am new to automobile electrical, but have a wiring diagram and instructions. But am still wary of splicing open the original yellow and green wires and attaching them to coil until I know clearly how to best do that.

Thank you in advance for patience and help.

I had to look up CRT - had not heard of them. That looks like a bargain price, compared to Davis or MSD.

I have no info on the wiring, just wanted to comment on the dizzy. Let us know how it works.

Not sure what your question really is. Are you unsure of what color is positive or negative, or which type of connector to terminate the wires with? I'd ask the coil manufacturer I suppose.

There are few write ups out there. Most people I have seen tie into the 2 prong plug from the motorcraft box. I think the wires are blue 12 gauge and an 8-10 red with a white tracer. Use the red w/ tracer as your power supply and run a like sized wire to the HEI. The second terminal on the HEI is a tach feed back to the cab.

Either way you need 12 volts switched to the HEI, 12 volts switch with NO interrupt in the start position for the key.

I wish i had a pic of the pigtail I'm talking about, but alas I don't.

You will not be wiring in a coil. HEI is a one wire wonder. The coil is built into the distributor cap.
