Q-jet on 401 intake

I am getting a Q-jet for my 401 and I know that the Motorcraft 4350 has a unique bore. I have an edelbrock on there right now with the adapter, can I use the same adapter or will the Q-jet bolt on to the stock manifold?

IIRC , You need to get a Q-jet adapter to Edelbrock square bore adapter. If you have an Edelbrock on there now then you most likely have an Edelbrock (square bore) to Motorcraft (spreadbore) adapter. Put one on the other. The Q-jet spreadbore is larger than the Motorcraft spreadbore. I put a Q-jet on my 401 once, and didn't notice any improvement.

I have the stock intake, so what do I need to get the Q-jet to fit on my stock intake?

I am switching to Q-jet for off-road. What should I look up to find the adapter. part # or application.

If I already have the adapter to mate an edelbrock performer car to my stock intake (motorcraft 4350 carb), can I use this same adapter to put a quadrajet carb to my stock intake?

Isn't your stock intake a spread bore? Not sure but I think your Q-Jet will be too, although the bore will be slightly different. I'll have to search around in my computer, but I think I might have some info about this somewhere.

All I know is that the motorcraft 4350 is unique and I needed an adapter for the edlebrock, I am hoping that I can use the same adapter or no adapter. I don't want to buy another adapter.

Google "Motorcraft 4350" and check out the sites. You will find the answer to your questions.

This is no sure answer but there was a post a few years ago where a member modified a QJ/Sq Bore adapter to mate a QJ to a AMC spread bore intake. Only other way I know is to find a 4350/Sq Bore adapter and stack it with a QJ/Sq Bore adapter. There used to be a 4350/Sq Bore adapter on the market but don't know about now. I think a couple different companies made them back in the day. Looked like this:

Is there a down side to double stacking adapters?

I wish that our old threads and posts were available. I put a qjet on the MC spreadbore intake. The Qjet spreadbore and the motorcraft spreadbore hav the same large holes but the small ones are different. The MCs small bores are the same as a square bore where the Qjets are smaller and further apart. I had a good write up with pics on my adapter build but I cannot find it now. There is no aftermarket adapter available.I cant even remember what parts I used to make mine but it was a combination of the factory plastic spacer and an aftermarket adapter that I used a dremel on to get it mounted.

I have the adapter that mates an edelbrock to the MC intake, I was thinking about trying to modify that, do you have any pics?

none it was 4 years ago I did the mods and I have sold that vehicle. It is important to remember that to make the Qjet work properly you need to use the adapter with the veins not the open style.
