I can't pass up a good deal!

I found this on CL one morning before I had to haul some stuff to be painted and it was only another 50 miles and then I wouldn't be deadheading home 100 miles. It runs and drives but leaks oil and needs tires.

plus it came with a parts truck!

The Eagle was something I picked up a few months ago at an estate sale but couldn't get it home so I left it at my brothers house.

You can see the burned hill behind me from the recent wildfires we have had here in Idaho.
Here is what it looked like from the road.

If you can't make it better why waste your time. No use repeating the orignal mistakes. I'm to old to push it that's why.

I don't know if it is necessary to state those facts when discussing an FSJ. Isn't that sort of par for the course?

Truck looks great in the pics. Looking forward to the next step.

Did you know? Willys is just Willis spelled differently, but pronounced the same. Neither Willy nor his apostrophe are involved.

I know , its like my dad always said about Studebakers, "If it isn't leaking oil there is none in it!"

Next step is to win the lottery so I can buy tires for it and my Cherokee. If I just had a set of matching used tires I could drive it but they are all different sizes.

New tires will cost me more than I have into the Cherokee and depending on what tire I put on the J10 it could be more than what I have it it

We had 4 fires burning around us, one burning the hills just north of town and almost burned a friends house and did burn the house of a lady that works for my mom and killed apx 250 head of cows. The Beaver Creek fire that almost burned the resort area started 12 miles from town and burned my uncles woodshed at his cabin, the porch of the cabin is scorched so it almost caught fire.

Now that the fires are dying down and we can finally breath clear air again, I see this on my way home last night.

The hills in the foreground are 95% burned, one patch at the right and the mountain peaks didn't burn.

.

for tires, check out tread write! I just put a set of 33" D rated BFG AT clones on our F250. $140 each! Top quality product.

You mean Treadwright, correct? They do have a fairly good reputation, but I guess I have to play devil's advocate and say that that reputation, like any product's, has to be taken with a serious grain of salt.

A tire is a long-term purchase. That means that the question of whether that tire is a quality product cannot be answered immediately after purchase unless it immediately fails to meet expectations. Until you get reasonable performance for a reasonable period of time and reasonable miles/use out of it without encountering defects, the best you can say is that you like the tire so far.

People naturally want to believe their new purchases are smart ones, and they like to brag on their new stuff. But taking too-enthusiastic reviews more seriously than I should have has cost me in the past, so I tend to filter out the "just bought it, cost me this much, salesman had a firm handshake so I trust him, gee but it sure is shiny, ain't it awesome" reviews.

Like I said, it's a devil's advocate argument, but there's my two cents' worth nonetheless.

Nice find on the truck, make sure we get some close up shots, not just the long distance ones.

I would rather not drive it that put on cheap tires, its not worth the risk of being stranded in the mountains with your family. I am a technician with 12 years working at new car dealers and have handled more tires than I care too. I can tell the difference in quality by just handling them, mounted or not. Discount tires just don't have the same quality feel that name brand do. I put Carlisle on my John Deere 214 just so I could have a quality American made tire. I'm not well off but I don't buy cheap stuff because it rarely works as well and you need to replace it twice as often.

It's not bad for parts but the bed has rust, missing tailgate, no interior, no gearbox, bad trans, doors dented, transmission is bad, engine is supposed to run but has been sitting for a long time so no guarantee. I would sell it if anybody is interested.

I'll try to get some this weekend, I still haven't crawled under parts truck to check the engine, got my fingers crossed...

Parts truck is a 360...

I threw away the old tarp they had the engine covered with and forgot to cover the carb after unloading and Dad saw it and covered it just before we got our first rain in 4 month! good news is that now there is only one fire left burning and it went from 5% contained to 80% contained in only a few days! The skies are clear again and they might get the mountains opened back up before hunting season starts!!!

not much left of the interior, both door panels look good though.
