Exclamation Need engine help!

OK, so here's the low-down on my '89 Wagoneer with the 360: I absolutely don't know what to look for on it. When I start it cold, it runs rough at first like it's flooded a little, no biggie, just stay on the gas a little and it clears right up. While it's cold, I can rev the snot out of it with little cutting out, but I also have the driver's manifold off and the AIR bolts out on the other side, so it doesn't have the back pressure. When it's warm, it starts missing really bad and if you try to rev it it backfires really bad. Other info I have is that with the wide open exhaust I see that every time it misses, fire shoots out from #5 and #7. Any ideas? Any and all help is much appreciated.

I'd put the manifold back on before you ruin the valves. I ran a 460 Ford with no exhaust manifolds and warped and basically distroyed every valve in the engine. I also agree with everyone else that the timing is off or it's running rich.

When was the last time you changed spark plug wires on it? A new set can only help.
