Sorry Flint...

...Another pair of 401's just left Colorado, one in the wag and the other in the bed of the truck

Got the wag back today and the trip went off well except for the fact that the rear pinion seal on the Waggy went out somehow. It has sprayed the entire underside of the Jeep and is still dripping. When I pull the diff what should I be looking for?

WHAT?! Oh well, like I said, we can't save them all...

I can tell ya blue steel is not something you want to see inside. But do you need to drop the cover? Hmmm, dumb question maybe - you should inspect it if you think it ran dry or too low.

Somebody was telling me that while flat-towing you can burn up the bearings in the QT even if the tranny is in park and the case in neutral. Make sense to you?

Same guy told me that if you don't pull the driveshaft and flat tow it you can mess up the pinion bearing and pre-load. Doesn't make sense to me. Anyone ever hear this before?

None of this makes sense to me Sean. I would question "same guy" on his logic if it matters to you.

That's exactly what I thought. I know that if something moves in a QT everything will move no matter what position it is in. I've never torn into a rear end before other than to count teeth and check fluid. I guess I was freaking out about possibly running the rear diff dry down I-70. Still has plenty of fluid in there.
