Estate Sale Yesterday

Went to an estate sale yesterday where these three rigs + a J3000 (very clean) sold. The two wagoneers were in great shape and ran. Some minor rust on lowers but not too bad. Had good interiors yet were dirty. The Willys was a non runner and needed new engine. It was very clean and straight with no rust. All had been stored for 20ish years. Didn't get the miles on them.

Green = 750
Red = 900
Willys = 3500
J3000 = 2500.

Just found it interesting. I didn't bid as I have a CJ and a GW already and momma not happy with another project.

I like the red one.

I also see a 1965 Rambler Ambassador next to the green one.

I love how arguements end as soon as Ristow comments. Ristow is right...again.

If you can't make it better why waste your time. No use repeating the orignal mistakes. I'm to old to push it that's why.

It went for 3500. The bidding was hot and heavy till about 2500 then two guys duked it out the rest of the way. Engine was shot but interior was great. Had been painted at one time because all the chrome etc was same as body color. The wood in the back and seat brackets were pristine. The way they had them stacked in there made photos hard.

One funny thing was the the auctioneer (not a car guy) went to start all the vehicles (about 6 total) The Rambler jumped the clutch and about ran over some people and the other rigs he revved the engines to about redline without warming them or anything. Car guys just cringed at the thought of these cars sitting idle for so long and such a hard start up.

Does anyone else find it sad that the Wagoneers (that were in good shape and RAN) sold for way less than a nonfunctioning vehicle that is inferior in every way?

hard to find those wagons not rusted out, let alone completely untouched stock. Id rather drive that green one though!

Deal

I thought they were good deals... The red had the herringbone print interior.... way cool. It is a week out and I am still kicking myself.

Agreed on the running vs non running rigs. Apparently the old guy was a pilot and his green wag was his airport runner/airstream trailer towing and the red one was for working on the property/ pulling logs and the J truck had a camper on it for hunting/camping.

Really interesting guy apparently.
