I have a 3D printer and possible access to a large 3D scanner
My son was telling a family member that he had just bought a 3D printer. The family member who shall remain nameless tells my son that they have access to a large 3D scanner at work. They said if we send a few things in we could get them scanned. I'm thinking about the sending in the parts pictured but does anyone have the cups for the sun visors or the black plastic plate that surrounds the pin on the tailgates?
What else does everyone think we should scan?

If you're talking about the round dome light in the rear, I never thought of that. If you're looking for the plastic insert he goes into the chrome dome light between the 2 maplights you can find that at national depot because Ford used it in their pickup trucks.

I have a set of headliner/Visor cups in good condition. I Will look for them tonight. PM me and let me know what you need with them (I need them for my rig but and willing to loan them out if needed).
That rear dome light is a common GM part. I bought this one from a 70's Chevelle (link below). They use the same chrome base, too.
The front dome is GM, too; At least the one in my 79 Cherokee is (has the 2 little round reader lights with the squarish whiteish center dome lens). GM used it in EVERYTHING in the mid 70's and early 80's. If you look in the wrecking in some of the full size vans, sometimes they will have 3 or 4 of them.

Just be careful of the media you use for auto parts. Not all of it is UV stable, nor will it hold up to the heat inside of an automobile.
There was a few people making parts for XJ's over on the Cherokeeforum (XJ platform), and some were having issues with the media used in their printers.

Yeah, don't use PLA. Maybe PETG or ABS. Nylon if you have a capable printer.

If someone actually still had a pair, j10 bumper caps would be a great item to reproduce

Rear window sprayer nozzle ('89-'91).
It would require some type of insert for the nozzle, but if you could reproduce those I bet you could sell 100 of them.

I 3d printed 2 sets in PLA to test fit on type II late model bumpers. they are epoxied together and need painted. I don't like PLA so i'm looking into a more flexible material maybe TPU.

I would like to scan some visor cups but I'd rather buy them in case they get damaged or lost. I wouldn't want something to happen to yours.
