Your truck is so tasteful, but there are a few things you have done that are just so great: The seats, the white top, now that stripe. Wow. It's just subtle enough where it is not going to be the first thing people see when they look at it, but nice enough where as they settle in ogling it, they will notice. So nice!

Gathered up my stainless trim. I have two sets, but some is damaged. I 'am taking the best pieces and cleaning and polishing as I install. This is what I did to get it looking better.
1. wet sanded with 600
2.wet sanded with 1200
3.wet sanded with 1500
4.wet sanded with 2000
5. polished with white diamond

It kind of reminds me of what is on a super wagoneer except in black.

I had to order different clips for the hood trim, the holes are bigger and I can't use those plastic push in trim clips.

SON OF A GUN !!!!!!!

I knew it,....

I just knew when the black was bordered by the polished stainless

it would pop like crazy,....CONTRAST is what my art teacher said was key !!!

bright polished beside black carbon fiber = Winner.

"long time coming" I can relate ,.....had one project that took 5 years,

...putting on those final details is better than x-mas.

looks great, ready to see a pic of the entire side with trim.

Man I have been away for a long time I just got all caught up on your build!
This Rig is Beautiful! I love the black carbon fiber that is an amazing idea!
Makes me want to do something other the the wood but we will see.

Side note on the front hood trim clips. If you wanted to use them you could push the plug out of the clip and run a button head bolt and a nut on the back side. I did this in a pinch before my wedding to keep the trim on.
The beauty of this too is with the bolt you have a little extra play for aligning the trim piece with the body.

Feel free to contact me if you want more info. But you are a smart guy so you may have better solution.

Good lordy, that looks awesome. The trim shines a lot. You have more patience than me. And I agree, it looks perfect next to the black carbon fiber. Sweeeet is all I can say.

So are you officially in "shake down"? where you are driving it around and fixing any bugs? What's left to do? Do you have a list of things that still need done?

Thanks all, If I need help on the hood clips I will send a pm Wagoneer Taylor.
I have a little over 300 miles right now. I drove it to Metairie which is a suburb of New Orleans about a week ago. Went to a cruise night. It was not fun, never had any problems, just nervous driving a 70 mile round trip on an unproven Wagoneer. 24 of that was on the Lake Ponchartrain Causeway bridge which at one time was the worlds longest bridge over water. Anyway, the more I drive it the better I feel about it. Jake and I were going to Cruisin The Coast, but this Hurricane, I think is going to cancel those plans. Really just been driving it around town. Mileage is not good. 9.6 miles to the gallon. Things that need to be done.
1. Headliner and my sun visors need to be redone.
2. 7 pieces of stainless need to be installed
3. Hood is a shade off, but might not ever get repainted, possible winter project
4. slight oil leak, possible rear main. If it gets worse, I will look into it.
5. It drives straight, but want to get the alignment checked.
6. All I can think of right now.

I have had that nervous feeling before,...

...you feel like each voyage is the maiden voyage,

....( possibly of the titanic.... )

sounds like it is doing real good for you,....

you did a fine detailed restoration,

and that is going to pay off in fewer problems.

one thing for sure ,

you know how to fix anything that comes up,...

...cause you built it.

Holy smokes! I am not sure anybody said it was stunning yet. So I will say it. Some serious eye candy there... I too really like the carbon fiber strip. I bet you are getting a ton of second glances.

Been said before - BUT - That looks sooo NICE !

Chuckled at your "no fun drive" to the car show...
The infamous shake down runs where you sorta know everything is OK, but you haven't really driven it a lot, or far yet. Been there.

Good for you! Take the risk and go for it .. you did, and your work is paying off.

Alright, the outside is done! Finished with all the stainless trim. also did the first oil change at 488 miles. I have a rear main seal leak that is going to get worked on at some point, but not right now. Might order the headliner next month. We could not have finished it without all the great people on this site!!! Thanks for all the help. Here are a few pics from this weekend.
