Ok a few questions about the doors. first the locks dont work, the passenger side locks it self all the time. I need to replace both sides as the lock tumblers are shot.what do i have to do to change them out and adjust/tighten them so they dont lock on there own. and how to I go about adjusting the doors. they dotn close all they way. i have about 1/8 of an inche gap at the backs of each door. the weather is starting to get real cold and it would be nice to have a tight fit before its too cold.

Swapping the lock cylinders (tumblers) is a snap! If you look on the door edge you'll see a metal peice handing out. This is the edge of a clip that holds the cylinders in place. Just pull the clip out and the cylinders will come out from the front. (If you need a new set, I've got an extra set w/ keys).

To adjust how the doors close, you need to move the door catch. IIRC is adjusted with 2 large phillups head screws/bolts.

Regarding the doors locking themselves; it's due to a broken spring on the latch. Pretty common problem.

How's $10US sound? What's your postal code so I can get an estimate for shipping (I'm guessing 5-10).

I don't think there is a common source for the
spring itself, options are the latch is $100+ /side from
the dealer, try and wind one yourself from
music wire, find a used latch.

Uhmmmn the spring is a 1 buck hardware store torsion spring. Getting it where it needs to go is another matter. I repaired this problem 2 different ways before. 1 is replacing the latch with 1 from the same side REAR door, which typically sees less usage than a front door. Another time I rigged a $1.50 expansion spring on the popup linkage. To get the doors to close tighter, just move the striker inboard a bit.
