i was nervous of the oil pressure,it was showing low on the guage, but i checked it with a mechanical guage,25 at idle, and sweeps nicely to 55 when the gas is stepped on. i think my old 401 was a bit higher at idle, but i also think the journals were a tad tighter on that one.this motor is .002 on all. i think i'll put an .007 gasket in the pump from bulltear though.

it has punch, but with the stock exhaust still on i can't give a real report.

i slammed the hood on it,walked in and told ang it was the last one, going for a new car after this one, done messin' with this crap...blah blah blah......

....and then started eyeballin' some '61-62 Lincoln Continental hard tops...

Whats the displacement ? and is it stronger than a 401?

391ci. still has the stock exhaust,so i can't say on the power, but the low end is pretty strong, feels at least as punchy of idle as the old performer cam'd 401,and that had dual exhaust.

i recall i said i was done messin' with this junk,so why's all this on the bench?

Silly boy, FSJ's are a virus...ain't up to you to quit. I been tryin couple years now and still buyin parts.
A clean low miles MG Quota might finally break me free though. I bagged the brit single thing...too much like leaning in to a punch. ;(

104 miles a day. runs strong. still has the stock exhaust so it's choked up when i step on it. not a tire burning asphalt animal, but i didn't want that. torque!

instant torque off idle, and the dual exhaust should amplify the mid range punch, which ain't bad now. after the exhaust i'll run the 780 holley again. put a 4180 holley i prepped special for it.13.5+ mpg. cruises down the highway with the slightest push of the throttle. the stock tranny is still in,and it dumps to 3rd right away, even as low as 20mph. stills pulls briskly up to speed.

Joe,we gotta get together and ride someday. i say get both a brit single and the Quota. those Quotas' are said to be a great machine. don't see them around my neck of the woods.
