Ouray 2008 pics

Feel free to add your pics to this thread! I thought it'd be easier than sticking them after page 25 of the Invasion thread.

Lots of water this year, very green, not usually dusty, and under 50 degrees on top of the passes. Some saw snow, some saw hail (have some time if you ask Ralph about the hail,) some slipped around in mud, some sat tight until it let up, but it was all cool. (Ha!)

This is a snow bridge or whatever it's called just below Animas Forks.

This is my "Dang, I got stuck with the dogs again...at least I have my cigar" look.

Jeeps, dogs, kids, Eagles...Eagles?! What more could ya ask for? (Yes, Brian qualifies as one of the kids...)

Some snow on Imogene

More of the same

I brought some cool new decorations. This is Flint fondling them as Bigun looks on longingly...

This is what they look like on a deserving rig...

This is a view of Bridal Veil from Imogene through really wet sky.

Sorry about Flint's Jeep messing up the Bridal Veil pic here...

After the first Invasion for Okra and Myself, I'm already ready to go back. Hope everyone made it back safely. I made it over Monarch Pass w/o any problems and even stopped at the top to celebrate.

I got to Ouray late Wednesday after my accelerator cable broke just south of Montrose. (if you go through get Beef Jerky from Ray's. He gave me a ride back to town and I ended up buying a small pair of vise grips to hold the cable together. http://www.raysgoodstuff.com The jerky is good and Ray is a nice guy.)

On Thursday I joined in on the ride of Gladstone and I'm not sure of the name of the other areas we went on. Kenny from Texas rode shotgun and I learned the important lesson of airing down tires. Had some fuel delivery problems but for the most part it was a great day. (Had to back down a hill for about 1000ft w/ the engine off.)

Because of the Fuel problems I bummed a ride w/ Ron in the M715 and Brian and BethAnne in the Exploder. Its just as much fun being a passenger so you can look at the scenery.

Here's some video from the top of Engineer's Pass

You folks are just great.
I give Frank, at 1906 (?) miles one way, the award.
I don't care what you say.
That's just impressive no matter how you want to call it.
He came with his teenage son, who seemed to really enjoy the trip.
My hat is off to both of you.
That's a lesson and some quality time.

Great pics so far! Love the view! Hope to make it out next year, whether in a Jeep or from a plane.
