drive selector lights on column
Had the jeep worked on, no time due to work. Anyway 89 GW the steering column needed to be tightned up, seems to be a common issue. Got the jeep back and drove it last night for the first time, steering column is now tight, but the lights that illuminate what gear you are in NOW NO Worky !
I know take it back, let them fix it. Any ideas, or as the tutles say, IDEARS ?
Thanks

I know the 89 drive selector is a bit different than my 79 but the unit should be clipped to the colum and there should be a lightbulb clipped on also with one lead coming off. IIRC it grounds thru the colum.

seems simple enough
Anyone out there changed this bulb, seems fairly straight forward, but I can not get the little bulb out. tried twisting, pulling. Next step - cutting and replacing.

It will come out if you pull hard enough. It's a tight little bugger. You may need needle nose pliers or side cutters to pull it out.

There is a light in there? Has never worked in my '89 since I bought it 2 years ago.
I guess one more thing for me to track down and fix on my rig!!

it pulls straight out,and they are stuck in there firmly due to age and heat.

There IS something to illuminate the gear select? I always just keep my dome light on if I need to see what gear I am in.
