My 77 Cherokee has a coat of thick, black, dull paint on the inner fenders and firewall. For whatever reason the PO applied this over the original body paint which doesn't appear to have any damage except for some light surface rust. The motor runs great so I am not planning on yanking the motor for some time.
I am removing the black goo in spots and wondering how to best repaint. I only want to do the inner fenders at this point (the firewall would be a much bigger job and can wait until rebuild time). I thought of Eastwood Chassis Black but spraying would be difficult and risky due to overspray. I have brushed POR-15 with nice results but I know it dulls over time, so I don't want to use that. Has anyone used the Eastwood product with a brush or mini roller? Does it seem to be more durable and retain the gloss (or semi-gloss)?
