Transmission type in 1988 wagoneer

i know it is fairly easy to identify the diff transmissions used in the wagoneers

but it is even easier to ask people in the know,...so:

did all 1988 wagoneers have the same automatic transmission type ?

i think over the years the used 727's and GM transmissions

if someone knows the answer i would appreciate the info.

mine is a 1988 GW, what trans did it come with ?

thanx

By '88 they had phased out the 6 cylinder so it should be a V8 with 727. Not sure if it's relevant to you, but I believe that the regular versions (with 2.73 gears) had a torque converter lock-up clutch, while factory tow package equipped rigs (3.31 gears) had no torque converter lock-up, so there were in fact, two slightly different transmission options even in the final years.

While we are on the subject of FSJ Automatic Trannys. What is standard automatic for a 83 Cherokee Laredo with a 360? Were there any options available back then ? Previous owner may have ordered my Laredo with a Towing Package.

Same trans AMC cased 727. Every AT behind a 360 was the 727 from 80 till the end.
