Rear axle question

Don't know where to put this but here goes. I have a question about rear axles. I've already searched a bit on this site, checked the tech library too a bit. Not too much. Is there a write-up somewhere that can tell me what different stock rear axles were used on these FSJs? The axle in question comes from an '82 Cherokee, 6 cyl, manual trans. If I could, I'd like to find out the gearing too. Thanks.

On an 82, its an AMC20 (23) rear axle. Gearing will be 2.73 or optional 3.31 (tow package).
Is it a 4 speed manual or 5 speed manual?
If 4 speed, it's the T-176. If a 5 speed manual, it's a T-5.
Take a wire brush and a wrag to the front D44. There will be a tin tag on the left sie of the diff that reads what the gears are.
Hope this helps.

I have another question. Is this Cherokee possibly a wide-track? I don't know much about the difference between narrow and wide tracks.

Hate to hijack but what were the axle ratios available on 83 J-10's? Is there a stamp or a tag on the axle tube to notate which it has?
