Back to the build.



I got the tank installed and plumbed today. I'll fire it up tomorrow and attach the fuel sending unit.











I have a good leak from of the transfer tail shaft mating gasket. Is it a big deal to just unbolt it and slide it back so I can hit it with some permatex, Or should I remove the rear output shaft to install a new paper gasket?

Little more progress. I went back over all of the bolts on my suspension since installing the 4" lift. Drove it to the gas station to fuel up the new rear tank. My gas gauge is working now! I was working on my other project and kept smelling gas coming from the jeep. I looked under and found this!








It is leaking from the factory hard line. It was behind the factory tank until I deleted it. Good thing I did.



Question? Would you replace it with a new hard line or rubber reinforced fuel line?

I'd probably replace the entire hard line. Then it'll last another 40 years

That's what I get for letting it sit so long. The hard brake lines on the GMC motorhome are about to start that. New complete kit is over $700. Going to be next owner's problem. Since my lady passed away in July, have no need or desire for it. She bought it cause she hated tents, and now my camping days are over.
It's hell losing two life partners in less than seven years. This one was actually my first wife, and we reconnected four years ago

When I was doing my EFI install babywag recommended nylon fuel line. It is pretty easy to work with, light, and pretty cheap.... as long as you have no sharp bends to make. I would definitely NOT use rubber but nylon or the green'ish metal line would be my choice.

I've got some new stainless hard line coming so hopefully it will last another 40 years.

Rang I was thinking about the stout fuel injection rubber fuel line. I settled on Stainless hardline. Best to keep as much ridgid piping under there.

Thanks. I remember that yellow one on Spicer, and wondering about it. IIRC there was a blue one there too. Think it's gone now too but haven't been that way for awhile.

The Yellow one is up in Rochester Washington and the blue one moved from Spicer rd also, but it's still in the valley.


I found the wiring for the domes finally. It was tucked away.

That's good on the wiring. Only thing I remember about Rochester was a cinder block shop building on the main drag (before the hwy reroute). Had a raft of Nash Metropolitans in various states of rust, most worse than eastern snow belt FSJ's. Wiife wanted one with a Toyota 22R with 5 speed transplant. Never found a decent shell in my price point.
