New Jeep......

Well, I bought another Jeep yesterday....

I wanted to ask your opinion whether I paid too much or not....

It's a 1986 Grand Wagoneer with a 360 / 727 / ????

The guy said it had been parked for a year and not ran at all. I brought it home, dumped 5 gallons of go juice in it and hit it with a shot of starting fluid and it started right up and purred like a kitten.

Shifts fine, drives great, power seats work, rear electric window works, all glass is good,

What doesn't work....
Needs the plastic things for the window regulators
Needs 4 new tires
Needs something done because the windshield wipers don't work
AC doesn't work
Tiny amount of rust lower rear quarters, very tiny
Small amount of rust on the front edge of the fenders.

The guy was going to scarp it and I said "whoa there partner, let me come check it out first"
Well I bought it and paid the guy $150 for it.

Pics tomorrow!

Guy must have been clueless if he was actually going to scrap it.

You know what you are now? ONE LUCKY SUM of BE-OTCH! Only $150?!

I can never get deals like that, unless its for a parts vehicle that's either rusted out beyond use, or a wreck, and on top of that, your going to pay scrap value. You got that for below that! He probably would've gotten around $250 for it, and if I worked at the yard i'd scarf it up the minute I saw it!

oh and BTW,

Not sure, he said the battery went dead a year ago and he parked it.
It was in a friends driveway for a year and the guy wanted it gone, the owner had bought a new truck and moved on I guess and just didn't want to mess with it.
I found it hard to believe someone would basically discard a vehicle because the battery was dead and figured there was a worse issue with it...

I put a new battery in it and it fired right up immediately and ran perfect.

I guess he was insane, lazy or just didn't care about it anymore.

I think so, Best $150 I ever spent...

Actually it only cost $50 out of pocket because I got $100 for scrapping the other vehicles I had here.....

I mean ya know it does need some things done to it but cripes, it's still in pretty damn good shape and drives nice.
Got a set of used Goodyear Wranglers with 95% thread on them for $240 mounted and balanced so that was a good deal too I think.

Also bought a bumper jack yesterday in Phoenix for $30 so I can change a tire if I need to...
I need the plastic window track / regulator thingies whate
ver their called so the windows will work.
I need to:
Replace most all the vacuum lines on it,
Repair the seat tears,
Needs a new U joint on the front end of the front drive shaft,
Needs wipers fixed
AC don't work / don't care really.

That's about it other than some very minor rust.
