My Plan

I have not yet, but here is my plan. I removed the rear doors and tail gate. We are going to ditch the pillar in favor of a small hoop. Slide the rear forward to the hoop and boat tail it to the frame width in the rear. That will put the front edge of the rear glass right behind the front door opening. The reason to go this way is so she still looks like a waagie that went thru the wash. But still look like a waggie and not some cut up thing. Also going to remove the frame from behind the rear spring mounts(Approx. 8"). This part is up in the air because I am really leaning towards the cheby spring and SF in the rear. I would then mount the rear spring shackle to a custom rear bumper like alot of CJ's do. I am also looking at use a Bllastic Joint for this mount for more movement maybe. Just one thing to keep in mind just pulling the tail gate and rear door I picked up almost 2 inches in the rear springs without all of that steel there. I am going to pull another leaf out because I haul the Jeeps in an enclosed trailer and I am really close to the roof now. Once I get this project rolling I will post pic up here. My bigger reason for this is to shave some weight. My GF in her XJ have made it up a few things that I get my Great Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley Moogley kicked on and she is only rear locked and I am locked F/R.

I hope this gives you some ideas. Just make sure it still looks like a waggie there are not enough of them on the trails is it is.

I saw one on craigslist a couple months ago. They just cut the rear glass in half and moved the rear forward looked like about 8 inches. It looked a lil funny but it still looked like a wag. The departure angle on it was a massive improvement over stock. I looked for it but the ad was gone so no pics sorry.

Tinman's BoB'd Grandragon

Yep,

I cut 13" out of the body to shorten my Wagoneer for better rear clearance.

You can see plenty of pics in my Photobucket album: TinmansSJ

That looks amazing! departure angle is one major downfalls of the wags. Looks like you solved that problem

Thanks Shaggywaggy88,

It wasn't too easy, but well worth it.

Tinman,
