rock rings are rim stiffeners. pretty much self explanatory. you mount the tire as you usually would on a rim.

Yep. A rock ring is just reinforcement (or in some cases, just cosmetic).
A bead lock has an inner flange that the inside of the tire bead rests against. The outer ring bolts on once the tire is in place and it clamps the bead in place. This "locks" the bead (hence "bead lock") and keeps the tire from unseating off the rim when you run low air pressure.

That is what I thought, ROck RIngs are basiclly for mall crawlers then.
I think I might invest in beadlocks.

Alot of people use both. The beadlocks keep the tire seated, and the rock rings keep the wheels from being damaged.

Yes I understand that you will need an outer rock ring to bolt up to the inner beadlock. But just to weld on a rockring is GAY, just my opion.

Not exactly. Rim stiffener. I wish i would have invested in some back when i bought my wheels. Now i have a pratically worthless set of wheels with bead lips bent to heck and back from 2 years of hard wheeling. Dont write them off as for mall crawlers only.

Interesting brett A fiew years back I ran A set of beadlocks on my XJ on 33s, I aired them down and did A hell of A hill climb (set fire to the weeds from the Xjs cat at the top). I bent to hell the pass side outer locks on the pass side. It smashed the the lock rings so hard that it caused seperation on the tires causing them to buldge, it basicly wasted 2 nearly new tires. On my newest set of pitbulls I went back to steel wheels W/O locks of any kind. I can reset A bead easily, just like we did years years back.
