9 years and here we go again

Hello all, at one time I had a 1977 J-20 that just refused to stay running let alone drive, I had to make a choice back then in 2010 - keep poring money in to it or keep the DD which was a 1989 XJ in good mechanical repair.

Sadly my FSJ had to go - but I've always wanted another FSJ
Well in 2017 the XJ started overheating and no matter how hard I tried to keep the temps down the old girl would run SUPER hot - 23 years of ownership and 331,xxx miles on my butt - I ended up selling it to a collage kid - with full disclosure it gets HOT.

Last night I re-join the FSJ club and the overall Jeep family once more.
My wife found through a friends group the son of a gentleman she use to work with has a FSJ Wagoneer for sale and after a little haggling we settled on $2600 (down from $5500)

1968 Wagoneer.
That does move and stop under its own power very minimal rust Left rear quarter the worst and then not much at all - pulled the carpet and no rot in the floor boards. All hinges are solid, the lift will get replaced as right now its using blocks on the spring over, but all in due time.

Fells good to be back in a FSJ

Worst rust spot on the Wagonner I have. It is rotter through the outer skin to and is slightly worse than the picture

Interior is is good enough shape for a 51 year old Jeep though all windows, crank and doors work, the heater motor makes noise but no air happens, but the separate AC actually blows cold air!

Anyhow, it feels good to have another project in front of me again.

Hi

Nice score. Never seen the roof rack, is it original? Mine was long gone
before I got the jeep. Tail gate work? Looking forward to seeing more
pics. How does this one compare to the one you sold?

Roof Rack original yes.
Tailgate hand crank works - but lock does not, only lock on it that does NOT work

BONUS*
Still has the original 1968 owners manual, 1968 specialty items catalog and maintenance log in the glove box.

Will have to take pictures of them and just how good the condition is of them

Will also add some interior shots other than the drivers seat being thread bare, all other surfaces are pretty good for 51 years old.

Here's some better shots of the roof rack and the accessory manual that shows it.

Headliner as far as I can tell has not been re-done.

Note they've been changed out to Warn hubs, but the original manual is still intact.

I really like that roof rack (I need to find one for mine), plus the original special equipment manual for it is really neat too! The original manuals are always nice to have; was stoked to find one for my 1970 as well a few weeks ago. Looking great, thanks for sharing them.

Great pics, and congrats on scoring some really great documentation.
Pure UnObtanium. Your dash looks the same as mine, but without the pad.
My headliner was also long gone, yours looks new. My wife walked in
as I'm looking at your pics and asked, "Does he want to sell?" Yeah right.
Like there's room here for another vehicle. The axle from my 73 had those
hubs, I swapped them for Warns when I did the axle swap. The Warns
were easier to lock/unlock, and they did not stick out so much.
Looked better too.

Well, that is a nice looking luggage rack! I might not have filled the holes to delete mine if I had that type.
