did you decide on a motor? A first gen AMc 327 or a Buick 350 would be really cool. If you go a non stockish V8 you better go big!

Not yet, My dad might be getting a free V8 from a big block swap that he has to do for another customer. We will decide further when we get the title for the truck, and I am back in Oregon

Yes, a Buick 350 would be nice.
A later model AMC 360 V8 would a bolt it.

I agree with Austin, if you stray away from standard factory options, it needs to be bad to the bone.
Lots of folks do the LS style 5.3/6.0 swap and it is well documented here.
Big Block of any type always has the kewl factor!
I'm a BBF person myself, so getting a Ford 460 from a rusty donor should be easy as pie.

Column shifters are cool, but they get old quick.
Floor shifter is the way to go.

Thank you for all your opinions. Today I put the drivers side rear brakes back together and had a hell of a time. It turned out that the parking brake cable was putting enough tension on the shoes to not let the drum slide back on. tomorrow I will do the passenger side and take a new pick of it all cleaned up. I am supposed to be meeting the PO tomorrow to pay him and get all the paperwork I need to get the title changed I also ordered my new tail light lenses, due to broken ones.

After great debate about costs and current funds. My father and I have decided to just get it mobile first with the 230 Tornado, and clean the body up with a new paint job, and fix the interior. and worry about a frame up at a later date. Ordered new spark plugs, cap, rotor, points... and we are going to see if we can get this engine to fire up. Still planning on changing to a 4 on the floor though. we also ordered parts for the front brakes, but having problems finding new Master Cylinders. Carnuck recommended Napa part# M36006, but it doesn't look original. on Rock Auto they have the original, but they are $114.79

Today I drilled my gas cap off because I didn't have a key to it, and found out that my fuel filler hose and vent hose were dry rotted off.

I am also going to take it to the radiator shop to see if they can straighten it and clean it up for me due to the dents on the bottom.

On a side note though, It still has it's original washer bag that looks like it will still hold water, I thought was pretty cool.

Changing spark plugs and other standard tune up parts to see if we can get some life out of this engine.

Took the gas tank in today to get cleaned up.
Took the Master cylinders apart and running them through the parts washer to see if we can just rebuild them.
Ordered new filler hose for the gas tank.
Filled the windshield washer bladder and found that it amazingly still holds water.
                    Ordered a carburetor rebuild kit.
Have the Junkyard looking for a used 4 speed floor shift tranny to use with the 230

Just met with the PO again for yet another round of different paper work to try to get this Jeep in our name. it is incredible how difficult it is to register a vehicle after owners are deceased and the title is lost.

Especially since you will probably find out it is no longer in the system. If not tagged for a few years it just kind of disappears out of the system. Don't ask how I know

It was on Microfiche in Salem. on a purge file. The problem was getting the right paperwork for the deceased

Oops! The tail lenses I ordered from BJ's was wrong. They are for the round tail lights that are mounted in the box, not the step sides >.<. So now I have to find the right ones.
