New Tires

Just got my new tires that are being discontinued this year. My J20 was fitted with 950 x 16.5" tires when I bought it in 1981. I needed a new set this year and found out that this size was no longer being made. No listings on the major tire manufacturers webs. I didn't want to scrap my perfectly good chrome rims and centers to go with modern wheel rims sizes. I would have had to spend another $800 for rims plus the cost of the new tires. Anyway found a warehouse in Sherbrook ,Quebec Canada that has stock. Apparently , the Bridgestone/Firestone plant in Joliete Quebec was still making them as of June of this year as my build date stamped in my tires is 2513. 25th wk of 2013. Anyway attached is a link showing them mounted on my truck.

If anyone needs this tire size below is their web site. They're very strong ,10 ply rating (overkill for my application), maximum pressure 80psi. I only put 50 psi in them and they ride beautifully.

Looks nice. I ran the Transforce for awile on a work truck, great wear and nice ride. Very strong tire but not alot for muddy conditions. Never had an issue, just learned its limits quickly and respected them.

Yes I agree ,their tread pattern is not coarse enough for mud and snow. They are a definitely a heavy haul , highway cruising rain tire.

If you plan to keep the truck long time now would be a good time to start saving for new rim's. 16.5" truck tires have been scarce for quite a few years so by the time you need new tires again... have Plan B in place.

saweet! now I can get the alum 8 lug slots (70's style) for my 71 F250. And get the tires from them, or maybe two sets. The Ford was my Dad's and has been in the family since she was a year old. It will only be a weekend driver once I get her done, afther the Chero that is.

Very nice. I'm a fan of 16.5's myself, and didn't know a major name brand mfg. was still making the 9.50-16.5's.

I ended up buying a set of 16" wheels for my J20. The only tires I could find were similar to the tires you bought or bias ply traction treads and they all were $$.
