I bought my '87 from him about 9 years ago. Had 50K and was in nice shape. Few months later the tranny went but he made good on the rebuild costs!

I've used POR15 for years. Has always worked well for me. Apply it right out of the can with a brush or spray. Just don't get any on your skin and let it dry as it will take weeks to come off!

If I had the cash to buy a new 3/4 ton pick-up I would gladly take one of mine in . But to take on more debt with a loan or line of credit makes no sense. Just not in a position to do it now.

There is a chrome tape that can be applied over the trim that will bring it back to life. Will be a bit of work and trial&error to get it to bend around curves etc... but it can be done.

The exhaust heater valve is on the pass side...

The exhaust heater valve is on the pass side between the manifold and tube. Supposed to stay closed to force heat back up untill it warms up then opens to flow exhaust.
If the "tick" is near the top...

One plug shouldn't make it vibrate bad ,two or three yes. You should hear if it's missing or feel it if down on power.

I don't know the exact reasons but I would guess it may be simply a privacy issue or it could be a liability/insurance issue? Maybe they don't want all the artsi fartsi types in there taking pictures...

First guess would be an exhaust leak but I see new manifolds installed. Most of my "ticks" were related to leaking manifolds and smog tubes/fittings. Did have a lifter tick once but it went away...

I'm sure you will still have to tap into the wiring. It won't be a unplug-plug in.
I built a control box (similar to the JC Whimpy)and tapped into a 70's wag once. Also worked great.

Neat looking truck. Looks like a steel bed! That thing was probably a lump to drive when it was fabbed together...especially with a vehicle on the back!
