I was thinking about one of the tuffy consoles and how they might fit. I need to measure, but some have a pad on the top and will house your stereo too. That is the route I think I am going to try.

They tie them down at the frame. When I had an issue driving mine home and an auto transport picked me up, I saw exactly how he tied it down... chains to the frame compressing the springs.
