For rear lift springs I have always used a jack...

For rear lift springs I have always used a jack and blocks wood.
This "flattens" them a bit and allows you to get bolts in.
They are shorter due to the added arch.

Usually, not the prettiest solution but 3M double sided auto tape is crazy sticky and lasts well even in direct sunlight.
