Never had a tach, but I have revved mine till the valves float more times than I can count. Kind of a built in rev limiter. My guess is that it is around 5500.

1: If the vehicle came with a 2v carb, it has to retain a 2v carb, unless it is being completely converted to a CARB aproved EFI system (Howell is the only one)....
