Ten degrees over what?? Ten degrees over a 160 thermostat would be fine. Even 10 over a 195 degree stat is ok as long as it doesn't keep climbing. Radiator is 3 row, 4 row, aluminum?

Aside from the drivetrain issues IMO the newer motor with all the associated electrical controls would be just MORE things to go wrong. The 360 is a very dependable motor with a quality rebuild....
