I'd try extending the stops if you're after cheap & easy.

Anything under 128 the pcm is pulling fuel over 128 adding fuel.
Cannot tune VE tables without them.
Need good data to get in ballpark.

If the value isn't correct the pcm calculations for fuel will be wrong.

they get all corroded/funked up inside after 30yrs.

The pump only installs one way, arm under the eccentric.
Top usually has fuel outlet, bottom has fuel inlet.
If it's too close to PS maybe a longer belt is needed?

Be prepared the mechanical pumps...

shine a light through holes and if yours does it'll tell you.
even if it is not easy-ish to change.

As mentioned @ 7" the advance unit should be all done as in no more vacuum advance.
If stock carb & power valve it should be adjusted to be done ~10".
