Backpacking above Leadvile July 2014

You can see our tent down at the lake, the little orange dot. And way down the hill, you can see the bottom of the pass we hiked up from.

And fishing in my underwear. Life is good.

Awesome pics Brad! Makes me wish I was up in that area right now. My family has a place in the South Fork/Creede area and I sure wish I was there now. Leadville is an amazing area.

Oh and BTW our '83 was bought new in Littleton. Not by us but we still have the original sticker and paperwork.

Definitely jealous of you folks in Colorado! Looks awesome man!

It was wonderful. I haven't taken a vacation day in the last 2 years that wasn't working on my Jeep, so I finally got backpacking again. You see stuff and get into areas that you don't normally get into.

The lake these pictures are from has no trail to it and isn't named on any topo maps I have. We just bushwhacked up the mountain, and it was a tough go. But worth it.

We took the 2005 Grand Cherokee. I'm not ready to tear up the 82 yet, not sure I ever will be. We got on some 4wd trails and I found out the Mrs is not fond of wheelin', much. We went to Lake City, and that's just going over Engineer Pass to Ouray where the Ouray folks were, but we were having too much fun by ourselves.

The beetle kill down around Creede and Slumgullion is horrible. I haven't been down there in quite awhile, and hoped it was being spared, but it's not. It's awful.

Which dealership? Was it on south Broadway? I wonder if it's the same place I bought my 80 J10 from….the name is escaping me now. I'd love to see the window sticker. I got my original window sticker for my 82 and it was bought new in Brighton, Co from a dealership I remember.

Yeah the beetle kill is pretty bad. It's sad to see all the dead trees. It was one of the main causes for those massive wildfires in the area last summer. As far as where it was bought I'll have to get back to you on that. The window sticker is in the glove box of the Wag which is sitting at our cabin right now. Hopefully I'll be able to snap a pic of the window sticker when I get up there here in about a month.

I love how there's no power lines! My girlfriend will have to get out there some time and camp!

I spent a few months out near Casper Wyoming when I was 16 and in the middle of no where and literally had a beautiful view obstructed by power lines. Would love to see a spot un touched if you will.
